Accessibility
For me, accessibility to elected leadership is a right and an absolute must!
All residents of
I want to hear from you!
Commitment
I consider public service to be a full time commitment , serving as your
Council Representative will be my full time job.
This means that your phone calls and emails will get a swift response and I will be in your neighborhoods, at your meetings and will hold regular district meetings.
Accountability
One of the top concerns among city residents is taxation including assessments and the tax rate.
Our tax rates have not declined at the rate that assessments have risen, leaving many of us asking "What did the additional funds provide to the taxpayers?" As your Representative, I will use my accounting experience and heavy red pen to improve fiscal accountability. I will work with the Mayor so that all department heads meet annually to coordinate their project lists to increase efficiency, control spending while eliminating wasteful expenditures, and ensure that public health and safety, public schools, and public infrastructure are appropriately prioritized and funded.
Community First
I firmly believe communities come first.
For this reason, I pledge to work with individual neighborhoods to address specific needs relating to maintenance, improvements, growth, and other concerns. As residents you know what is best for your neighborhood, and as your Representative I will listen and promise to be your partner not your adversary. Under my leadership, I will not only solicit but champion your ideas! By working together, we can identify neighborhood-specific projects that will preserve and enhance our quality of life and promote smart, responsible, growth. For example,
I plan to meet with each neighborhood to develop a project list that will guide what the city must accomplish on behalf of the public using public funds and that which could be accomplished through public-private partnerships. My experience in the non-profit world has equipped me with the skills necessary to build bridges between neighborhoods, social, civic and religious organizations as well as businesses to achieve positive results. The possibilities of partnering are exciting and endless!
Facing Challenges Together
Crime, traffic problems, parking issues, taxes, infrastructure repairs and/or needs, schools and many more topics affect us all. No matter where you live, how large or small your house or your pay checks, these issues go straight to the heart of your quality of life. While the challenges seem great, we in the 5th District are fortunate to have wonderful people, terrific neighborhoods, and successful businesses. We have a solid foundation and with new progressive leadership we can overcome our challenges to benefit us all.
